Courage to Bloom

Over the weekend I did some hiking in the Sonoran desert. Yeah, I know, great time to go hiking in Arizona….mid-July, are you kidding!? But actually, the temperature was under 100-degrees (very, very rare) so I decided to go for it.

There’s a lot of ‘brown’ going on in the local landscape this time of year, so you can imagine my surprise when I spied upon loads of novelty-sized cacti with brilliant pink, star-shaped flowers on the trail. They were in bloom EVERYWHERE.

Anyone who knows me will tell you I’m mad for desert blooms, so my heart was completely overwhelmed with joy. My delight + endorphins = Bruce-Willis-in-Die-Hard grade explosions of happiness. As I trotted along feeling as content as I’ve been in awhile, I thought to myself, ‘cheers to all things with the courage to bloom, regardless of harsh conditions.’

With Love Over H8,
